We've Upgraded - Inside the New Look BSPT

If you've trained with us before, you'll know we're always pushing to improve - and this time, we’ve taken things to a whole new level.

Over the past few weeks, Barry Stephen Personal Training has undergone a major gym refurbishment, and we’re thrilled to finally share what’s new, why we did it, and what it means for you.

What’s New in the Gym?

We’ve made significant upgrades across the board to create a space that’s even better equipped for serious, results-focused training. Here’s what’s just landed:

New flooring- stunning new flooring gives the gym a fresh look and feel, upgrading comfort and functionality

Brand-new rig - custom-built to support multiple squat racks, cables, and pull-up stations

Fresh benches and Olympic weight plates - perfect for strength progression

Reconfigured layout - more space, better flow, and smarter training zones

New SkiErg and RowErg - bringing Hyrox-specific conditioning tools into the mix and more options for cardiovascular training

On top of this we still have all our amazing Watson Gym strength machines and benches, so whether you're training for strength goals, general fitness, or fat loss  - we’ve upgraded every part of the gym to support your journey.

Why We Invested

The decision to refurb wasn’t just about aesthetics - it was about functionality, performance, and the member experience.

We asked ourselves: How can we make this space work even better for our clients? The answer was clear:

  • More flexibility in programming

  • A smoother flow from warm-up to working sets

  • The right tools for both 1-to-1 coaching, group training and solo sessions

  • Space that reflects the level of care and professionalism we stand for

Better Training, Better Results

These new additions allow us to program more effectively for:

  • Strength & hypertrophy blocks (with new plates and benches)

  • Conditioning & Hyrox-specific prep (with SkiErg and RowErg)

  • Functional circuits and sled work (with more floor space)
  •
  • PT clients and group sessions (with more space, more equipment and a better layout)

Whether you're here for personal training, classes, or just open gym access, the new layout gives you more room to move, more structure to your sessions, and more opportunity to grow.

A Foundation for the Future

This refurbishment isn’t just about new equipment - it’s about deepening our commitment to what makes Barry Stephen Personal Training truly different: community.

We’ve created a training environment where:

  • Beginners feel welcome and supported

  • Everyone’s goals - big or small - are taken seriously

  • You’re surrounded by coaches who know your name and care about your progress

  • You’re part of something bigger than just “going to the gym”

Whether you're walking in for your very first session, returning to training after a break, or chasing a new performance goal, this gym is your space - inclusive, encouraging, and built around a real sense of belonging.

The upgrade is more than equipment - it’s an investment in the future of the BSPT community.

Come See It For Yourself

If you haven’t been in for a while - or you’ve never seen the space - now’s the perfect time.

Barry Stephen

I have been working in the industry now for close to 12 years and I can honestly say I feel like the luckiest guy in the world being able to do a job that I absolutely love. In this time I have learnt from a variety of different people and I am continually reinvesting in my personal development in order to offer the best service possible to all of our customers. My family, my clients and the guys that work for me inspire me. Seeing them achieve results beyond what they thought were possible is a real motivation for me. I thoroughly enjoy working with everyday people and helping them in their journey whatever the goal may be. As well as being a personal trainer and gym manager I also work as a Strength and Conditioning coach having worked with athletes from many different fields. I spent 18 months in a part time role at Partick Thistle Football Club, which was a great experience. I have developed a passion for helping other Personal Trainers improve their skills, which is why I offer our educational workshops and mentorships. Ive won awards in this field and feel I have a large amount of experience and expertise I can pass on. I have also taught and assessed for Fitness Training Scotland delivering kettle-bell, gym instructor and personal training courses and have taught and assessed the Level 1 Weightlifting Course for British Weightlifting.
